I saw the happiest dog on the highway the other day. No, the dog wasn't actually on the highway. He was in the passenger side of his Daddy's pick-up truck. It was a Yellow Labrador Retriever. Possibly a mix as most yellows have short hair. This dog had longer hair and, his or her hair had a light tinge of gold as if it was part Yellow Lab and Golden Retriever.
So, I am driving along and the pick-up passes me to my left. This extremely happy dog had not just its head out the window. It had half of its entire body (if not slightly more) out of the window and, to keeps its balance, it had its left paw on the side mirror. It was panting and smiling from ear to ear. It ducked its head back into the cab and stood next to Daddy, wagging its tail like it was its job. Then, it poked its head back out of the window, put its paw on the mirror again and continued on with its "lucky to be alive", happy as can be, day in the breeze!
That dogs sheer delight at the most simple of things put a smile on my face.
Note: While I worried for the dog being in such a potentially dangerous position, I still admired the sheer joy that he or she was experiencing from the simple feeling of wind on his or her face.
