So, you know that show I hate? You know...American Idol. The one that people are reportedly so in love with? The most watched show on TV? Really, when that is reported each week by Ryan Seacrest, he should say, "since we are just about the only fresh episode of anything on TV right now due to the strike".
Check it out. On Tuesday the 30th, the "Most Watched Show on TV" saw an audience of 25.33 million people. It is actually dropping in viewership by 5% week-to-week. And, since 2007, it has dropped 20% of its viewers! How about that?
Furthermore, it was up against Wife Swap who saw 5.79 million viewers and was up 190 thousand from the previous week.
I have to ask, if we had regular scheduled programming because no strike existed, how would American Idol survive against shows like NCIS and Bones? Of course, since American Idol is on Fox, Bones would have been booted to another hour or another day but, I still think that Bones would beat the crap out of American Idol's ratings if given a chance!
I wonder, how many more weeks of this show there are left? If it continues to see a 5% drop in viewership week-to-week, can it sustain enough audience to keep it on the air before its finale?
Just asking!
