I am forever on the hunt for good lipstick/gloss. My favorite used to be Neutragena MoistureShine tinted lip balm. It was moisturizing and provided great color. But, I developed some kind of reaction to it. So, I stopped using it several months ago. I might try using it again soon because, it really is the best lip color that I have found. It doesn't dry your lips out at all. So, it broke my heart (just a little) to have to remove it from my purses and pockets. Since then, I have been looking for the right lip color and the right brand. One thing that I like the idea of is any extended hour lip color. There are tons of formulas out there that boast 6, 8 or 12 hours. The problem is that, of all the ones that I have tried, my lips felt dry as heck and, I could forget about eating or drinking anything inside those 6, 8 or 12 hours. And, when it starts to wear off it can be quite embarrasing. I was at a doctors office once when one of the brands I was trying, wore off. I ended up with red crumbly looking gross clumps and a line that separated the outside of my lips from the inside. I looked like a freak show and didn't know it until I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. Pretty!
But, there might be hope. Not perfect hope. Just hope. Loreal has a new formula. It is called Infallible Never Fail LipGloss Gloss and is supposed to stay put for 6 hours. I bought 2 colors: 505 Modern Mauve and 125 Bloom.
Here are the Pros:
It does stay put. Not sure about 6 hours. It will get eaten off when you eat but, you can drink your coffee, soda, water, etc...and a very minimal amount of it comes off.
It is pretty easy to apply. It is only one step because it is color and gloss all in one tube. So, no applying step one (the color), waiting for it to dry and then applying the rumored moisturizing step 2.
It stays shiny/glossy.
There is no disgusting taste. It does have a slight fragrance and a bit of a flavor but, nothing gross.
Here are the Cons:
Like all of its kind, it is sticky and not the most comfortable and moisturizing thing you will ever put on your smackers. But, it is tolerable. Just don't over apply it because then it sticks more and sort of clumps a little. One application with both sides of the wand thing per lip will do. Don't double dip per lip. That will result in clumpy, gloppy grossness. It only took one time for me to learn that lesson.
It doesn't stick around when you eat.
If you eat something with crumbs like a sandwich or pizza, crumbs will adhere to the gloss and it feels pretty disgusting. So, my suggestion is not to apply it less than an hour before you eat something crumby.
Don't expect a good reaction if you kiss someone else with this stuff on your lips. Like I said, it is sticky and, while you may be tolerant of it, remember that the person you are kissing probably doesn't want it on them.
Your hair will stick to it if the wind blows your hair into your mouth or, you wear your hair loosely around your face and a piece or two moves or falls towards or over your mouth. Basically, this lipstick is not at all long hair friendly.
Something I haven't experienced yet:
The two colors I chose to try are very light. One almost perfectly matches the pink color of my natural lip pigment so, it only enhances what my momma gave me with some shine and a slightly pinker coloring. Therefore, I don't know the extent of that awful telltale line that happens separating the outside of your lips from the inside of your lips. That line can be pretty embarrasing and ugly. It tends to be really noticeable when you are talking to someone. And, as the lip color wears off, that line gets worse and worse. It is not noticeable with the 2 colors I chose but, that could be because they are both really light. It might be more visible with a deeper shade of red or pink, ect. I can see a very light line when I look close enough. So, my suggestion would be to stick with the lighter colors or, if you only wear darker colors, either skip this product entirely or give it a test drive but keep the receipt so that you can return it if it doesn't work out.
So, I have decided to keep mine. I am a firm believer in returning merchandise that doesn't work for me and have returned every stay put lip color formula in all the other brands that I have tried in the past, so, the fact that I am keeping my 2 Loreal Infallible Never Fail LipGloss Glosses speaks volumes.
It is tolerable.
