Finally...Something is Working!

After I got sick this last time, I went to my neighborhood herbal supplements store and told her about my problem with getting sick every year during the winter for 3 months. She gave me 3 herbal immune boosters to take. I can only remember the name of one of them right now. It is ARA-Larix RX-Immune. She said it is the single best thing you can take for your immune system and practically no one knows about it. So, that and the other two things that I started taking seem to be working. Thank God. Two of them are from the Nature's Sunshine brand of herbal supplements. I kicked a cold that could have, and was about to, get a lot worse and I did it in 2 weeks. Not 3 months. Just 2 weeks. The people that gave it to me are still recovering from it!

So, I will continue taking the immune boosters, possibly for the rest of my life and, hopefully, I won't get sick anymore this year...including my regular Bronchitis season starting in October or November! Wish me luck!

The Best Revenge!

Hold On To Your Lunch!

Don't say I didn't warn you!

No, she isn't dead. She threw herself at him and he rested his face on her. These two have an unnatural love! And, it makes me nauseous it is so sugary sweet!

One of The Best Good For You Drinks I Have EVER Had!

I have successfully limited my soda in take for the past year or so. I mostly drink water (Fruit20 Tropical flavor) with a Venti Sugar-Free Vanilla Breve Latte in the AM to get my mind working. Occasionally I will indulge in a Diet Coke or a Coke Zero. But, I pretty much prefer to stay away from the sodas now because it messes up my sleep patterns and my hormones during that once a month business.

So, the hubby and I were at Doc Greens (a salad bar restaurant) this weekend. I couldn't help but notice how appealing this drink looked just by the bottle. So, I got this one and the hubby got a Raspberry one. They were so good! They are loaded with vitamins and so high on flavor that my mouth waters just thinking about it!

This one is the Banana Colada and it took me back to Cancun where I had Pina Coladas almost every day. All the refreshing beachy flavor of a Pina Colada without the drunkenness and potential hangover!

A 4. 8 On a Sliding Scale

I finished "Sleep No More" by Greg Iles. Here is the thing, it took until about page 80 for it to really start to pick up. Then, it was on the move. Really intriguing and I was really looking forward to seeing how it would end. There were a few predictable bits and pieces in it. Then came the end. Basically it was like sex without an orgasm. Getting there was fun but the ending was a huge disappointment. Given that this is my blog, I choose to rate this book on a sliding scale where I break it down by portion. The rating system is between 1 and 10 with 10 being the best. The portions are Beginning, Middle and End. Beginning = 3 Middle = 9 End = 2.5 The average here would then be a 4.8. That is not a screaming endorsement if you ask me. The best part of this book was the cover art. I don't tend to pay that much attention to the cover art on a book. Really, it is usually the author that will catch my attention. Then, I would have to say that a title will catch my attention. The summary means a lot to me if I am unfamiliar with the author. The cover art barely registers. This one did. It is really eye catching. I guess they needed an eye catching cover to make up for the less than stellar ending. The thing that bothers me is the high praise that Stephen King gave is all over the cover and pages of the inside of the book. I didn't notice his praises until after I had already purchased it but, after I read them, I was understandably excited to start reading it. I guess it just goes to show that fame can't buy taste.

American Idol: A Missing Count Update...

The FCC Has An Itchy Finger...

I was watching MTV the other day and the video of for Teenager by My Chemical Romance came on. They censored the crap out of that song. Or, should I say...They censored the shirt out of that song? You'll know why in a moment.

So, they censored the shit out of "Teenagers scare the living shit out of me". Fine! I get that. Then they censored the gun out of "Because they sleep with a gun." Given that there were some school shootings on or around that day, I can forgive them that. But, there is a line in the song that goes, "but if you're troubled and hurt, what you got under your shirt, will make them pay for the things that they did". Can you guess which word they censored out of that line? I'll give you a hint, I eluded to it above.

SHIRT! They censored the word SHIRT out of it! Are you kidding me with this "SHIRT"? What the heck is wrong with the word SHIRT? Are they going to censor the object in public too? If we can't say it, we certainly shouldn't be allowed to wear them either.

SHIRT SHIRT SHIRT!

Watch out, I am about to say something else potentially vulgar...SWEATER! Gasp! The nerve! Such a potty mouth!

Sorry! I Don't Mean to Be Neglectful!

I am just really struggling again with another cold and haven't felt like posting.

Dirty Girl...

Does she eat food with that mouth?

Did You Know? Could You Have Imagined?

Big Brother 8 left us with burning questions last season. One was answered last night. Yes, Jessica and Eric are still together! AWWWWWW! But, how about Nick and Daniele? Nope! Not according to Joker's Updates (a website). Not only are Nick and Daniele not together, but Nick and Jen...yes...Jen are a couple! Who'd a thunk that? Not me! Well, I did predict that Nick and Daniele wouldn't work because, she is a cheater and Nick seems like a genuinely good guy. Although, he shouldn't have been wooing a girl who had a boyfriend. That doesn't speak volumes about him. But, he still seemed like he was the kind of guy that is faithful to his girl.

I like Jen. I found her to be misunderstood. I think she has a good heart with a bit of an overblown ego. But, an overblown ego does not a bad person make. She has...wait for it...Moxy! The way she put up with and handled all of the hatred thrown at her showed a lot of inner strength. And, I don't think that she was as careless as she portrayed herself to be. I think she was just good at hiding it. Until, of course, she destroyed Dick's ciggies and spit in the face of Slop rules. But, after everything everyone put her through, how could she not break?

So, I think Nick could be good for Jen. He may be able to bring her down a notch. I also think that she won't break his heart like Daniele would.

Big Brother...Let The Drama Begin...Semi Spoilerish

Between one half of an evicted couple getting a second chance while one made-for-TV couple gets separated, the only real couple/non-couple in the house at each others throats because they are both on the block, and one couple who hated each other right out of the gate, finding that they have more to like about one another...this is proving to be one drama packed season of Big Brother!

I love it!

Well, it is new to me! http://www.mylot.com/?ref=cortjo73

I found this website a couple days ago. I think I found it when I googled that new Loreal LipGloss I blogged about. It is mylot.com and it is a cool place to go. Pretty much, if you have an interest...any interest...no matter what...there is someone else there that shares your interests. I am enjoying talking about Big Brother, Lost, House, books, and a plethora of other stuff.

Big Brother Delivered...As Usual!

As you all know, I am almost rabid with love for Big Brother and its winter edition premiered last night! I loved it! I felt like crap last night because of my 4th cold since November 4, 2007 (I have been healthy a grand total of somewhere around 3 weeks since that day) but, I still loved the premiere.

I love the new twists! I love that Jen and Ryan are the only real couple in the house but were unexpectedly paired with other people! And, I love that Sharon and her ex (I forgot his name) were forced to pair up! I hate that dude cheated on her and she has every right to be bitter but, he actually seems remorseful and was very sweet to her. Who would have thought that I would cheer for a cheater given how absolutely hateful I feel towards people who can't keep their junk in their pants from other people and only let it out for the one they are with. But, he really seems genuinely remorseful!

Did anyone else see Big Brother After Dark last night? The hubby and I watched about 1 minute of it before putting it to bed and, WOW! WOW! WOW! An unexpected situation seems to have occurred since they have been in the house!

So, despite my outward lack of enthusiasm for it last night due to how absolutely shitty I felt, I loved it!

Next week is Prison Break's season finale! I will miss it! I'll miss that edge of your seat it has given me every episode of every season!

The working chemistry of this cast is phenomenal! I couldn't ask for a better viewing experience than the one the entire cast and crew of Prison Break provides for me each new episode!

I even love the people I am supposed to hate. Whether good or bad, I feel for each character when a beating comes their way or heartbreak befalls them! Each and every member of the cast should be commended for being able to bring sympathy to even the most low down and dirty character!

Bravo!

Pros & Cons...

I am forever on the hunt for good lipstick/gloss. My favorite used to be Neutragena MoistureShine tinted lip balm. It was moisturizing and provided great color. But, I developed some kind of reaction to it. So, I stopped using it several months ago. I might try using it again soon because, it really is the best lip color that I have found. It doesn't dry your lips out at all. So, it broke my heart (just a little) to have to remove it from my purses and pockets. Since then, I have been looking for the right lip color and the right brand. One thing that I like the idea of is any extended hour lip color. There are tons of formulas out there that boast 6, 8 or 12 hours. The problem is that, of all the ones that I have tried, my lips felt dry as heck and, I could forget about eating or drinking anything inside those 6, 8 or 12 hours. And, when it starts to wear off it can be quite embarrasing. I was at a doctors office once when one of the brands I was trying, wore off. I ended up with red crumbly looking gross clumps and a line that separated the outside of my lips from the inside. I looked like a freak show and didn't know it until I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. Pretty!

But, there might be hope. Not perfect hope. Just hope. Loreal has a new formula. It is called Infallible Never Fail LipGloss Gloss and is supposed to stay put for 6 hours. I bought 2 colors: 505 Modern Mauve and 125 Bloom.
Here are the Pros:
It does stay put. Not sure about 6 hours. It will get eaten off when you eat but, you can drink your coffee, soda, water, etc...and a very minimal amount of it comes off.
It is pretty easy to apply. It is only one step because it is color and gloss all in one tube. So, no applying step one (the color), waiting for it to dry and then applying the rumored moisturizing step 2.
It stays shiny/glossy.
There is no disgusting taste. It does have a slight fragrance and a bit of a flavor but, nothing gross.

Here are the Cons:
Like all of its kind, it is sticky and not the most comfortable and moisturizing thing you will ever put on your smackers. But, it is tolerable. Just don't over apply it because then it sticks more and sort of clumps a little. One application with both sides of the wand thing per lip will do. Don't double dip per lip. That will result in clumpy, gloppy grossness. It only took one time for me to learn that lesson.
It doesn't stick around when you eat.
If you eat something with crumbs like a sandwich or pizza, crumbs will adhere to the gloss and it feels pretty disgusting. So, my suggestion is not to apply it less than an hour before you eat something crumby.
Don't expect a good reaction if you kiss someone else with this stuff on your lips. Like I said, it is sticky and, while you may be tolerant of it, remember that the person you are kissing probably doesn't want it on them.
Your hair will stick to it if the wind blows your hair into your mouth or, you wear your hair loosely around your face and a piece or two moves or falls towards or over your mouth. Basically, this lipstick is not at all long hair friendly.

Something I haven't experienced yet:
The two colors I chose to try are very light. One almost perfectly matches the pink color of my natural lip pigment so, it only enhances what my momma gave me with some shine and a slightly pinker coloring. Therefore, I don't know the extent of that awful telltale line that happens separating the outside of your lips from the inside of your lips. That line can be pretty embarrasing and ugly. It tends to be really noticeable when you are talking to someone. And, as the lip color wears off, that line gets worse and worse. It is not noticeable with the 2 colors I chose but, that could be because they are both really light. It might be more visible with a deeper shade of red or pink, ect. I can see a very light line when I look close enough. So, my suggestion would be to stick with the lighter colors or, if you only wear darker colors, either skip this product entirely or give it a test drive but keep the receipt so that you can return it if it doesn't work out.

So, I have decided to keep mine. I am a firm believer in returning merchandise that doesn't work for me and have returned every stay put lip color formula in all the other brands that I have tried in the past, so, the fact that I am keeping my 2 Loreal Infallible Never Fail LipGloss Glosses speaks volumes.

It is tolerable.

TOMORROW!

I am like a kid on Christmas Eve today! Big Brother 9 airs tomorrow night on CBS at 9:00 and it feels like an eternity from now!

I can't wait to see who the next Amber will be. But, most of all, I hope that this season brings me a winner I can applaud for. Each year's winner has either brought me stunned and passionate disappointment or complete indifference. I hope this season gives me a winner to cheer for! I want a moment where I get to jump up and holler with glee for this season's winner! No more Evel Dicks! I want an Eric this season!

However, regardless of who wins, I can't wait for every second of it!

Happy Big Brother 9-Eve everyone!

American Idol Hype: The Weekend Edition

Love It!

I finished Dean Koontz's "Seize The Night" over the weekend. Fan-tabu-lo-tastic! If there is an author out there that can replace Dean Koontz in my number one spot on my "Favorite Authors" list, I haven't found him or her and, can't image ever finding someone better than him.

I found out that Dean Koontz has another chapter in the life of Christopher Snow that he has been working on for the past nearly a decade. It isn't due out until sometime in 2009, tentatively. If I remember correctly, the title is "Whether The Storm". I can not wait! In fact, I am a little bummed that I do have to wait so long! But, good things come to those who wait and, if it takes him a decade to write it, it will no-doubt, knock my socks off!

The way that Dean Koontz writes the dialogue between Christopher Snow and his friends, Bobby and Sasha, always has me giggling. He is so gifted!

Keep It To Yourself...

I try not to push my own political and religious views onto others. I like to live by the rule, "Don't rub your opinions in my face and I won't rub my opinions in yours". So, to see a license plate on the car in front of me with cartoon pictures of 2 children and the words "Choose Life" on the bottom of the plate really pissed me off. Is there a "Choose Choice" plate? I believe in "Live and let live". Do you really believe that just because your plate tells me to "Choose Life" I am just going to take your word for it. Bam! My mind has changed! I am all of a sudden convinced that I should do exactly as you say because you told me to do it on the back of your car! Thank you! You have changed my life! You have closed my mind to the very realistic option of making my own decisions in life! You have also closed my mind to the very thought that sometimes, you have to make a very hard decision because your life might be in danger or by "choosing life" you are risking the very life that you chose to keep. You are right! Come Hell or high water, "Choice" is not an option!

Shut up and keep it to yourself!

Where Is "What Not To Wear" When You Need Them?

I love the show "What Not To Wear" on TLC. I have learned a lot from Stacey London and Clinton Kelly over the years. I try to follow their rules and keep myself appropriately fashioned. I probably miss now and then but, not as bad as a woman I saw walking in the parking lot at my job today. From top to bottom she seemed really confused. She was wearing a black long sleeved sweater tucked into a light blue unshapely denim miniskirt that came up to about 2 inches above her knees, some olive green tights and camel colored brown shoes. So, I found myself wishing that I had a direct line to Stacey and Clinton. Girlie needs some help!

BTW...her tights were about the same color as THIS.

Always A Pleasure!

Since finishing a book that didn't work hard enough to keep my attention for a decent dessert ending by providing flavorless meat as the main dish, I am enjoying the never disappointing writing of Dean Koontz! Just before Christmas I read "Fear Nothing" about Christopher Snow. A 28 year old man who has had to live his life in the shadows of night due to a rare genetic disease called Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP for short) in which any sun light and most artificial light will result in cancer as his body can't repair itself likes ours can. He lives in Moonlight Bay, California and has learned things about his city of birth that a lot of the towns people would rather keep secret. "Fear Nothing" was captivating and perfectly suited to my need for constant drama and suspense. And, as always, Dean Koontz has brought just as much drama and excitement to "Seize The Night", the next chapter in Christopher Snow's life!

I am already loving this book and can't wait to find out how it all ends!

Good Enough...

I finished my third Greg Iles book last night. "Third Degree" is its title. It was about half the size of the first 2 books I read by Greg Iles but, I think it actually took me either the same amount of time to read, or longer. It was slow to pick up in the beginning and had peaks and valleys. The end was good. It had moments of intensely fun plot points but, for the most part, I wouldn't rate this book any higher than a 5.5 out of 10 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best.

I am struggling to decide whether I want to include it as a Recommended Read because, it just seemed too difficult for me to maintain interest. I sort of felt like I was obligated to finish it because I started it. On the other hand, I could recommend it, if only for the end. It was a good ending.

So, I guess I will settle for leaving it in your hands. I like action packed books. Books where I can't wait to turn each page. Not books where I am paying almost as much attention to what page of the book I am on as the words on the page.

Perhaps, if you are interested in it, borrow it from a local library instead of paying for it. As I said, the ending was good. Not phenomenal! Just...good. Worth getting to, just not worth all the difficulty it took to keep my attention on the book, in order to get to the end. I am not sure if that makes any sense at all. I can't really think of how to explain what I am trying to say. I guess, the ending is worth the dull build up you must wade through in order to get to it.

American Idol Hype: A Daily Count

FEBRUARY 4, 2008: 15

The first 10 happened before 10 this morning. That is a bit much.

So Boring Today...

What do you talk about on a Monday, after the Super Bowl, when you aren't really a sports fan? I kind of don't have much of anything interesting to say today. Sorry!

I can say that it was a busy sports themed weekend for me. I went to a hockey game Friday after work and then to a Super Bowl party at my neighbor's house. So, while I had a good time on both days, I can say that I am all sportsed out. I am pooped today. I am really dragging my butt around all day today. I can't really get my act together. I should be pouring caffeinated beverages down my throat but, I want to sleep well tonight so, my AM latte will have to do.

So, other than today's AI Hype Count, I am afraid that you will just have to wait until tomorrow to see anything worthy of your attention. Sorry! Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind if something interesting happens anytime before I knock off for the night.

Till then, have a great post Super Bowl Monday!

One Of The Funniest Things Ever!

American Idol Hype: A Daily Count

FEBRUARY 1, 2008: 8

Douche Bag

Some Douche Bag was driving up my butt hole on a busy highway where I was already going 75. I couldn't go any faster because there was a line of cars in front of me. He tried to pass me in the slow lane and had to get back behind me when he couldn't get any further due to the guy in the car next to me. So, he proceeded to be up my butt until I had to shift lanes for my exit. He finally got past me, only to be behind the car I was behind. Got real far there, didn't ya?

You would think that this guy was driving some expensive, my dick is the biggest dick in the world and I have the money to show it, kind of car. The coup de grace was when I saw that he was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer which he purchased at a Porsche dealership (according to the plate border). Just because you bought it at a Porsche dealership doesn't make it a Porsche, dude!

39 Days...And Counting...

There is a house in my subdivision who still hasn't taken down their Christmas lights. But, nevermind the fact that they haven't yet taken them down. I guess something could have happened recently that has their minds preoccupied. But, they still have them lit every night. That is when you go from possibly being preoccupied to just freakin' lazy.

And, they aren't just lights. They are their entire gambit of Outdoor Christmas Decorations. Ribbons and bows, wreathes and actual Christmas tree shaped lights that they stuck in the ground along their sidewalk up to the front of their house.

Yup! Lazy.

If you haven't gotten around to taking everything down, at least remove the stuff that stands out, even in daylight. Strands of lights are less noticeable in the daytime than red and green ribbons. And, don't light them up at night.

Overkill Much?

On my way home from work yesterday, I started flipping through my XM presets on my car radio and 3 out of 6 of those presets were playing "Love Stoned" by Justin Timberlake.

VOMIT!
