ON MY MIND NOW...Ehh...not much to say lately. Feeling anxious, off kilter, restless and stressed.

As Always...A Pleasure!

I finished the newest release by Dean Koontz this weekend. It is titled Odd Hours and, as usual, it was a pleasure to read! I loved it! And, to make it even better, the genius that is Dean Koontz did something that I would never have imagined. Ok, maybe he has done it before but, I never noticed it. I can't be sure! But, if he hasn't, he just topped himself in my mind and, I really hope he follows through! What was it that he did that has my tongue wagging so much? He eluded to another character. Odd Thomas is one of two of my favorite serial characters from the masterful imagination of Dean Koontz. The other one, as I know I have mentioned in other blog entries in the past, is Christopher Snow. So, here is a brief description of both. Odd Thomas has an unnatural ability. Well, really, he has a few unnatural abilities. He can see and interact with spirits of the deceased. He can also see other supernatural entities that are of a less kind quality. His gift forces him to help as the spirits that visit him tend to need him to right a wrong and to bring justice to the perpetrators of their deaths, or to protect others from their own deaths. Odd moves from place to place and, while he has friends, he tends to need to rely on himself to get the tasks he is charged with, done.

Christopher Snow is confined to the shadows of the night as he has a disease called Xeroderma Pigmentosum which means that his skin can not regenerate after any ultraviolet exposure. None at all. So, he conducts any and all business at night when he can leave the comfort and safety of his home. But, he is also tasked with fighting evil and saving others. He, however, has some help. He has close friends that have been able to stand up and fight with him.

So, the thing that has me so psyched, is the possibility that Dean Koontz may be gearing up to weave these two characters' lives together. In Odd Hours, Odd is questioned about a shirt that he is wearing with the words "Mystery Train" on them. And, he also dons a sweatshirt with the word "Wyvern" on it. Those are two very specific and very key pieces to the Christopher Snow puzzle. Christopher has a hat with the words "Mystery Train" on it and, he learned a little bit about the story behind that train in the last book in this series. And, Wyvern is where Christopher Snow lives. Well, more to the point, it is Fort Wyvern where his mother conducted experiments that were nearly God like in nature and has lead to a very dangerous world that Christopher finds himself fighting for the safety of all humanity. For Odd to have these two specific items that references key pieces of Christopher's world, is epic! There might be one more factor from Christopher Snow's world that was masterfully entered into Odd Thomas' world. Coyotes! It may be a part of that experiment-gone-horribly-wrong at Fort Wyvern that Christopher's mom was in charge of. I won't go into great detail. I'll just say that animals are a big part of Christopher's world. And, not just animals. Genetically engineered animals. And, a large pack of coyotes were one group of those animals that had a role towards the end of the last book in Christopher Snow's series. And, I think they showed up again in Odd Thomas' world in Odd Hours!

If Dean Koontz's plan is to weave these two characters together...he has gotten off to a magnificent start! I don't know how he will do it. The last Christopher Snow book was written 10 years ago in 1998. And, he started another one titled Ride The Storm but, thus far, he hasn't finished it and, he says that it insists on "setting its own pace". So, the question is, will he insert Odd Thomas into Christopher Snow's world inside the pages of Ride The Storm or will he insert Christopher Snow into Odd Thomas' next adventure? Either way, I hope they do meet as it will be epic! I can't wait!

Get Ready To Lose All Respect For Me...

I loved these guys when I was younger and, they are back together doing a reunion tour! They have a new song! And, they are coming to my state! So, I worried for a while because I was certain that, of my friends, none of them would want to go with me but, my closest friend does want to go with me! So, if we can get tickets, I will be going to see them on October 29th!

So, I know that I am risking your opinions of me by telling you that, I, Just Bloggin, loved the New Kids On The Block! I lusted after them. More to the point...I LUSTED after Joey McIntyre! I just knew that if we could meet, he would fall in love with me! Well, ok...so I wasn't entirely right about that!

I watched them perform on the Today Show and, it took me back to my youth! It is amazing how easy it is to fall back into the same feelings I had for NKOTB. I can remember how smitten with them I was and as I watched them on the Today Show, it felt like I was that girl again! I felt alive and crazed and like a teenager again! And, if I can go to the concert, I will probably recapture some of my youth that will stay with me for some time to come. Ahhh...nostalgia!

Still a Fan...

I finished my second read by Sherrilyn Kenyon, last night. It is Devil May Cry and it was magnificent!

Devil May Cry was actually the one I should have read before I read Dream Chaser as it isn't until nearly the end that we meet Xypher at the moment that he is given a pass for a month, out of Tartarus. But, this story isn't Xypher's. He is just an important character in for the ending of this story. This story belongs to Sin, who is an ex-Fertility God, and the Goddess Katra. Katra has one thing in mind when she first meets Sin, but it isn't long before she changes her mind and they become integral to one another's lives. They must stop the Apocalypse from happening and it is becomes a race against time and some of the darkest of dark forces.

Again, terror, danger, demonic mayhem and passion are perfectly weaved together!

Genius Side By Side

I have found Dean Koontz's equal! You all know I love Dean Koontz! His mind is twisted and fun and he never disappoints me. I may have found his Equal Genius. Her name is Sherrilyn Kenyon and she is magnificent. She weaves mythology and passion into intrigue, terror and can't-put-it-down fun. I am smitten with her characters.

I just finished Dream Chaser...which had me glued for the 2 short days it took me to finish it. I had to force myself to put it down for things like work, food and the occasional trip to the bathroom...oh, and sleep!

What she does with words in the way of describing something as simple as the faces of her characters made it difficult for me not to fall as passionately in love with them as each character fell for one another. I feared for them, I laughed with them, and I teared up for them when they were hurt.

I want more! I will find more! I will share more with you! And you will fall in love with Sherrilyn Kenyon like I have!

To give you an idea of what to expect in Dream Chaser, it is about a half God half Skotos named Xypher and a human he finds himself bound to, for at a distance of only 20 feet will kill them both. Xypher was damned but was released with the stipulation that he would come back to Tartarous in one month to live out the rest of his existance in torture. But, if he managed to do one act of kindness, he would be set free. There are twists and turns and even the twists and turns have twists and turns!

Enjoy!

Stephen King's Duma Key

It took me a while but, I finally finished Stephen King's newest release Duma Key. It took some time to get into. Perhaps the first 100 pages, more or less. And, it wasn't a can't put her downer. But, it was good, nonetheless.

And, it had one of the two most important ingredients for a good book...humor. There was a part that actually had me laughing myself to tears as two of the characters did something so funny that it had them laughing themselves to tears! And so, tears of laughter begot tears of laughter!

To give you a little idea of what this book is about, the main character, Edgar Freemantle, has a life altering accident. He moves to Duma Key to get away and, while things start to get better for him, things also start to go very, very wrong. In the end, he must play hero to friends both old and new, and loved ones in his old life. He takes some hits where his old life is concerened. But, one hit in particular gives him the fuel he needs to get the job done, once and for all.

Good Luck to Moonlight!

I love the show Moonlight...ever since the first episode. I love the cast and their chemistry with one another. I think the show is brilliant! It keeps me guessing and sitting on the edge of my seat with every episode.

Sadly, I read today that it has been canceled. But, there is a ray of hope. It is being shopped to other networks, more specifically, The CW network! So, if luck is on our side, those of us who are fans of the show and that beautiful man, Mich St. John, we will not lose this show to TV Heaven.

Good luck Moonlight! Get picked up by the CW! Bring me that hour of entertainment you have never failed to bring me!

How Does One Figure Out That This Is Their Talent?

Seriously...what makes one even think about trying something like this? However they came about this talent...it is pretty cool and, while I would never do it, it looks like a lot of fun!
